Meet the Team

Sweet Talk is not just a place of work - we consider it a family, comprised of stellar clinicians, our amazing clients, and their families! We pride ourselves in being FAMILY ORIENTED in all that we do and love forming long-lasting relationships with many of our clients. We are excited to introduce ourselves and look forward to getting to know you too!

Kylie Darland, MA, CCC-SLP

Greetings! My name is Kylie Darland and I am the owner and a clinician behind Sweet Talk LLC. I graduated from Wichita State University with my master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2021. During my time at WSU I completed a master’s thesis research project, which won 1st place at the graduate school’s research symposium and was also published in the peer-reviewed journal Aphasiology.

Upon graduation, I worked with adults in acute care at a local hospital for nearly a year before transitioning to the local public schools. While I love both of these settings, I often felt I wasn’t able to give clients the time and attention they needed due to limited resources and a large caseload. I also found that it was difficult to involve caregivers in therapy in these environments. Together, my husband David and I started Sweet Talk so I could have the freedom to tailor therapy goals to the clients' everyday needs, and also limit my caseload in order to give clients and their families the time and attention necessary in order for therapy to be successful.

As a clinician, I have specialized training in orofacial myofunctional therapy (OMT) and pediatric feeding, specifically in regard to ankyloglossia (i.e., tongue-tie). As an orofacial myofunctional therapist, I use a whole-body approach to various speech-sound disorders which greatly benefits many areas of development (such as sleep, breathing, and more)! I enjoy making therapy way more fun than it needs to by utilizing crafts, games, and other activities to keep kiddos engaged and excited to come to therapy. Orofacial myofunctional therapy is also available for adults. This can be beneficial for those who have persistent speech-sound disorders into adolescence and adulthood, struggle with nasal breathing, and have difficulty sleeping among other symptoms.

Outside of speech pathology, I am a wife and mother to four beautiful kiddos—Violet, Ida, Clare, and Augustine ("Gus"). I also enjoy playing piano, baking, and crafting! I continue to be involved with research in speech-language pathology at WSU, and love any opportunity to further my knowledge in our field.

My sincerest thanks to you for considering our clinic. I hope you will allow me the opportunity to help make a difference in your and/or your child’s life!
